+2

Plus 2.

It was Noah's book release party for his Unstuck that not only is awesome but I am in, as a blurb. Also, my follow-up post is on the 365 site, with a few photo highlights from the project. Fun thing with doing this one is that nearly a year ago, Noah and I did a napstache together for his last book thing at Chop Suey! So awesome!

So Lisa and Hope and I swung by before going to see the Virginians Barbershop Choir. I know! You are like: really, a barbershop quartet? We had acquired free tickets and it was their secular holiday program, and Lisa and I are always up for a unique adventure in different art culture. Dragging the teenager along too, but I knew she would probably like it. Heck, I liked it! It was really rather incredible...a fun evening.

Anyway, thanks to Ceci, we are also having one of the quartets on during our Holiday radio spectacular on River City Limits, December 10th on WRIR 97.3 (5-7PM). We write a script and everything....a cavalcade of stars and performances! Look, I even photoshoped a crazy ass holiday picture of us for the promo.

The Three Hundred and Twenty Fourth...

Number Three Hundred and Twenty Four:

Home, Breakfast, Eggs

Despite my tired look (Hey! Give me a break, it's 5 in the freakin morning!) I was excited about today. Not only do I do my Friday Breakfast Blend on WRIR 97.3, but our interview on one of my favorite local radio shows Wordy Birds aired today! It sounded great too! You can listen to it here. All in preparation of the Book Launch Party at the Poe Museum this Sunday from 2-4PM! Should be wonderful time!

The Three Hundred and Eighteenth...

Number Three Hundred and Eighteen:
Home, Dinner, Mac and Cheese

I went down to the WRIR 97.3 studios to mic manage for the Fund Drive. We had a goal to raise 1000 dollars in four hours. With the great sounds and help from DJ Greybeard doing the Songs from the Big Hair 80s show, and Fontaine doing the local River City Limits, complete with the intense band Druglord, we did it! Time to celebrate by getting home where Lisa made some homemade mac & cheese! Oh heck yeah!

Druglord live on WRIR!

You can and should still donate, we're trying to reach a goal of 35,000 by Sunday. We're so close! DONATE ONLINE!

The Three Hundred and Twelfth...

Number Three Hundred and Twelve:

Home, Dinner, Tacos

Such a great reunion show for Splork for the WRIR 97.3 LPFM CD Release party and a fantastic mix of music last night for the Fund Raiser! We raised over 500 bucks with Pedals on our Pirate Ships, Moosa, Ms. Proper, Peace Beast and us bringing it home with the dorkcore insanity!

Beach balls were flying, so much that a random ball struck a beer tap and created a waterfall of beer till one of the bartenders got to it. Also, some of the people we loved to play for best were there in full awesomeness. Wendy was bad ass, Michael and I had several layers of costume creativity and drummer Noell, well, he skinned it! Nice!

Band rocking it.

Special HIGH FIVE to Mike Rutz and Lindsey Spurrier, Events Committee chairs for WRIR, for constantly putting awesome stuff together for the station!

So today was the first time in a while I had the chance to veg out, which as much as I love to have all this great stuff going on, down time is always treasured. So I watched the Cinerama spectacle How the West was Won, as well a thoroughly great documentary on Cinerama afterward! Then yummy tacos for dinner! Good day.

The Three Hundred and Tenth...

Number Three Hundred and Ten:
Splork, Dinner, Pizza

Last practice before the big reunion show Saturday night at Bogart's in the Fan for the WRIR CD Release party Fund Drive! DONATE TO WRIR by the way! I picked up a pizza, we had some beers, we rolled the set out a few times, had some laughs, then chatted with the Diamond Center as they came in to practice after us. Good times!

The Two Hundred and Fifty Third...

Number Two Hundred and Fifty Three:

The Camel, Dinner, Greek pizza

Since becoming a member of the Board of Directors for WRIR 97.3, I have started a nice little tradition before the board meetings; going to the Camel for dinner. The food is tasty, the beer good, and I like sitting at the bar shooting the shit with the bartender. Pretty much being the creature of habit, I get the same thing every time. This time I did change my routine from people watching the Green Drinks Business group that has a function most every time I'm there to putting the last bit of editing red ink I can muster on the Richmond Macabre Anthology. Nearly there, people!

Anyway, the bartender, Georgia, thought the 'stache was funny, but I didn't bother explaining why I did it because one of the people from the Green Drinks Business group was giving a speech at that moment.

The One Hundred and Seventy First...

Number One Hundred and Seventy One:
WRIR 97.3 studios, Lunch, Cafe Ole, Burrito

Coming into the WRIR 97.3 studios to do my mic managing shift for the Spring Fund Drive a few minutes early not only meant getting my stuff together and prepping, but also enjoying one of the many fine meals offered at the station over the course of the Drive. This time it was Cafe Ole, burritos and chips available. Yum.

Now is the time. If you have ever given a shit about the First Amendment and the very idea of independent radio, the kind of radio you USED to enjoy (if you are old enough) or STILL enjoy (because you are young enough), NOW is the time to donate to one of the most creative, energetic, knowledgeable and AWESOME group of volunteers to ever invest their time in something great. Richmond Independent Radio can be heard across the world via the internet stream too.

Richmond has been a great musical town for as long as I can remember, and this radio station reflects this. Not only do we have people from the older scene, but new people as well. And it is not just about music, news and talk kicks much ass as well. So, keep this thing rolling and DONATE!

I managed this 'stache during my shift on the microphone during the 80s show hosted by Bil L. and P-Swann. Solid!

Radiostache!

The One Hundred and Thirty Fourth...

Number One Hundred Thirty Four:

The Camel, Dinner, Greek Pizza

Quick bite and a beer before the Board of Directors meeting for WRIR 97.3. The beer, Bells Two Hearted, the dinner was a really great tasting Greek pizza. Tonight was my vote night. In other words, I was getting voted in (or not) to be on the Board. By unanimous vote, I am now a member of the Board!

Boardstache?
