+2

Plus 2.

It was Noah's book release party for his Unstuck that not only is awesome but I am in, as a blurb. Also, my follow-up post is on the 365 site, with a few photo highlights from the project. Fun thing with doing this one is that nearly a year ago, Noah and I did a napstache together for his last book thing at Chop Suey! So awesome!

So Lisa and Hope and I swung by before going to see the Virginians Barbershop Choir. I know! You are like: really, a barbershop quartet? We had acquired free tickets and it was their secular holiday program, and Lisa and I are always up for a unique adventure in different art culture. Dragging the teenager along too, but I knew she would probably like it. Heck, I liked it! It was really rather incredible...a fun evening.

Anyway, thanks to Ceci, we are also having one of the quartets on during our Holiday radio spectacular on River City Limits, December 10th on WRIR 97.3 (5-7PM). We write a script and everything....a cavalcade of stars and performances! Look, I even photoshoped a crazy ass holiday picture of us for the promo.

The Three Hundred and Thirty Sixth...

Number Three Hundred and Thirty Six:

The Camel, Dinner, Quesadilla

Long day today. First went to an online conference at the library on eBooks. Great thing was that the keynote speaker was my pal and author M.T. Anderson. M.T. Anderson was Henrico County Public Library's All Henrico Reads author last year. Lisa and I had the pleasure of driving him around Richmond on a nickel tour of the town. Great guy, smart guy.

After that it was off to Carytown to post some flyers for the James River Film Society's Halloween Horror Showcase. I am one of the curators of the event, plus Richmond Macabre will be there in full effect! Also, spoke with Ward at Chop Suey about another RM event!

I had a meeting at the radio station to go to at 7:30, so I had a light supper at The Camel where Secretly Ya'll's Colin was bar tending. We chatted a bit about some Secretlys and the event we have planned on October 30th. Then the meeting up at the station last till nearly nine, nearly a 12 hour day! Whew! See the exit sign in the pic? Yup!

The Three Hundred and Thirty First...

Number Three Hundred and Thirty One:

Fountain Bookstore, Book signing

Great time in the Slip at a great bookstore! We had a number of people come in and purchase the book. Then Beth, Michael Baughan and myself signed copies and chatted with folks about it. Kelly, the owner, is absolutely awesome. She plugged the event, she hung up a banner out front, she showed people coming in the store the book while they browsed and totally sold some of them on it. So very full of greatness.

Window display @ Fountain.

Beth, Michael and I having some fun.

Later, I went to Carytown to pick up some cheese at River City Cellars for a party we are going to later. I pop into Chop Suey and our book is being proudly displayed. The guy behind the counter told me it was doing well too! Yay! Further evidence that local bookstores ROCK!

On the counter at Chop Suey.

Also awesome? Our Wedding Anniversary! Happy Anniversary Lisa!

The Thirty-Fifth...

Number Thirty-Five:

Chops Suey Books, Noah Scalin book signing, 1 cheese cube

Noah's book 365: A Daily Creative Journal came out today, or come out next week or any second now. His first in town signing being Chop Suey, Fountain Bookstore is next week if you missed tonight.

The threat of snow in RVA is ridiculous, but I had to go to the Carytown Kroger anyway, knowing I was in for trouble. Something about Richmonders that draws us to grocery stores like a mecca. And the REALLY ridiculous thing is that we know this. We KNOW that it is stupid to mass to the grocery and stock up immediately at the end of the day, we KNOW it will be crazy insane nuts crowded, but we shrug and go "ha ha ha" and do it anyway. Myself included; enter excuse: but I really needed to get this item! The parking lot was insane, horns and aggravation and sitting still but I managed a streetcurb and zipped in and out scoring cold meds and Brunswick Stew. Noah's event started at 6, so I killed a few minutes talking beer with Dave at River City Cellars.

Local bookstores rule, I'm just saying. Ward Tefft rocks. Also, Noah rocks. He was there messaging someone on his phone and we rapped a bit about this and that. Various 365 projects and opinions, then his folks showed up! All friendly approachable people. Artists rock! On one of the tables in the back were his new books all nicely laid out, great binding, like a Taschen, but more approachable and interactive, a book designed for creativity. Anyway, he was more than happy to do a 'stache, so here it is:

Scalinstache!
