The Two Hundred and Eighteenth...

Number Two Hundred and Eighteen:

Jason's Deli, Lunch, Salad

I kind of like the darkened effect here, too bad the background is a parking lot. There was a freshman cheerleader group, each with matching shirt that said something, I dunno "Rah!" I guess, with the mom that clearly used to be a cheerleader in her youth as well. Genetics are weird.

The Two Hundred and Fifteenth...

Number Two Hundred and Fifteen:
Ruby Tuesday, Lunch, Soup and Salad

Mass army of collared shirted khaki dudes ordering the salad bar and nothing else. Maybe to match the army of light fixtures. Must be gearing up for the beach vacay with the family. The dudes, not the lamps.

The One Hundred and Eighty Seventh...

Number One Hundred and Eighty Seven:

Jason's Deli, Lunch, Soup and Salad

After gnawing on some salad, Carolyn and I had a few minutes to go to the Local Book Store Slaying bastard that is Barnes & Noble. We go there sometimes to get a gauge on what the masses want in terms of bestsellers and also to see what is out there. It's good for the Bookmobile, and keeps the library relevant to what is hot.

Speaking of the Bookmobile, we have a funny, pain in the ass automatic door called a Bode Door. If you ever have the opportunity in your life to get a Bode Door for a Bookmobile or other such vehicle, DON'T. This thing has been a monster for the 9 years I have worked there. The buttons hardly work and when they do, there is often so much air and demonic possession in the door that it will literally eat you or an innocent person coming aboard. We have a ton of tricks to get around the madness, but it always figures us out, then changes the game. Today it didn't want to let us in AT ALL after coming back from the bookstore. It's a good thing we have a side entry hatch, located about 4 feet off the ground toward the rear of the vehicle. Initially it was to be used as a convenient way to load bags of books when parked in the garage. Unfortunately this hatch sits right in front of the dock railing in the garage and is unaccessible. An utterly useless hatch. Unless, of course, you have a possessed Bode Door, then you get to take turns every few years seeing who gets to lunge into the vehicle like a drunken caterpillar.

It was Carolyn's turn.

I did offer, but I think she secretly wanted to do it this time.

The Eighty-Fifth...

Number Eighty-Five:

Lewis Ginter Garden Cafe, Lunch, Chicken Salad & Roasted Red Pepper crab soup

Again with the chicken and soup. I am very much a creature that finds three things on a menu at restaurants and sticks with them most of the time. Not that I am one not to branch out, then it would be four things on the menu. Carolyn and I had the opportunity to sit by the window this time, less red hats in meeting / shopping mode, so I managed this shot. Reflecting, introspective, full of chicken salad and crab soup!

The Seventy-Fifth...

Number Seventy-Five:

Jason's Deli, Lunch, Soup and Salad

Special guest on the Bookmobile this week, Tammy, who got to witness a 'staching. I was attempting to get the guy behind me, one of the army of white guys in starched shirts that flip the ties over the shoulder while they eat, but it failed. Still, I like my facial expression, which is pretty much how I feel when armies of white guys in starched shirts flip their ties over their shoulder while they eat.

The Seventy-First...

Number Seventy-One:

Lewis Ginter Garden Cafe, Lunch, Chicken Salad & Roasted Red Pepper crab soup

Nice place to see a lot of ladies in various packs donning hats and dressed to impress so they can probably talk about the other ladies that didn't show, oh, and stroller babies with their moms. Love the soup and salad combo option. Yum! This is me being VERY cosmopolitan at the fancy place to impress the ladies!

Cosmopostache!

The Fifty-Seventh...

Number Fifty-Seven:

Trak's Restaurant, Lunch, Soup and Salad

This place has been around forever. L. and I every once and while get here for a late lunch (or early dinner, depending if she was working the night shift or not). Good stuff. And the decor is over the top awesome. Plants and Christmas most of the year round. C. had not been there in a long time (20+ years) and I was hankering for some hummus. Since Zorba's had burned their kitchen up and was closed, this was just as close to our next Bookmobile stop anyway, so we hit it. Speaking of hitting it, doesn't it look like Santa is gonna wallop me with the light? I'll call this:

Bludgeoned by Santa!

Well, okay, more like looking in my ear the way a Doctor would, but calling it "Dr. Santa" just sounds wrong.

The Twenty-Ninth...

Number Twenty-Nine:

Ruby Tuesday, Salad, Turkey Burger

C. and I again on the road, same Ruby Tuesday, same meal as reasons stated in the previous post. This time as we were leaving, I noticed that I was one of the few male patrons. Seemed like everyone else was a 47-60 year old lady with a friend donning Holiday Sweaters, meeting up for lunch to talk about how their daughter is thinking about quitting the cheer-leading squad because she is new and everyone else already knows the basic cheers and how Henrico County Schools really need to fix this problem and that blah blah blah....

Yeah, okay lady, tough times at the West End household I guess...

...or the 2 couples in their 70s being absolutely AMAZED at the selection of soups (two) they have there. Really. Kind of funny.

The Seventh...

Number Seven:

Ruby Tuesday, Salad, Turkey Burger

So imagine trying to explain to your boss, who is much older than you, what exactly you are doing after you take a photo like this. I know. She is young at heart and once I showed her the Blog, she laughed, but I think, like other people, she thought it was a little too weird. You know, that uncomfortable, "Ha Ha Ha"?

Anyway, what I noticed about Ruby Tuesday, a restaurant ONLY good for the salad bar, is that there were a lot of young, cute waitresses with little love handles and pot bellies. It was kind of strange, everything else about them was apparently lean and firm but for their mid-protrusions. I like this song by Deke Dickerson in reference to that. I know I have no room to talk with my beer belly and fat head, but I just thought it was funny.

Oh, I tried a unique fold with this one.

The Second...

Number Two:

Bookmobile, after Panera Bread, lunch, Soup & Salad

Tomato soup & Greek Salad from their pick two thingie. Meant to do it there, but forgot. Luckily my co-worker Gina bought a cookie and there was a napkin at the ready! Incidentally, one may find future Napstaches via Bookmobile because we do lunch a lot on the road.
