The Three Hundred and Sixty Second...

Number Three Hundred Sixty Two:
Home, Breakfast, Cereal

Another awesome postcard sent to me from Mim and the MailArt 365 Project. They are also winding up their 365 project soon, along with Abby's My Daily Nature Photos, two people I have gotten to know thanks to this endeavor. The guy in this photo is also a Phil! So great, now I have two! I think I am gonna frame them somehow because they are fun!

T-minus 3!

The Three Hundred and Fifty Eighth...

Number Three Hundred and Fifty Eight:

Home, Breakfast, Eggs

Closer and closer to home plate. Did I mention I am in Noah Scalin's new book, Unstuck? I haven't gotten a copy yet, but I know I am in there, in the "look how easy it is" inspiration section. I look forward to getting a copy!

The Three Hundred and Forty Sixth...

Number Three Hundred and Forty Six:

Home, Breakfast, Bagel

One of the many things that is awesome about Lisa is her ability to hold onto stuff. She would be the first to proclaim herself a pack rat, but I think it is really quite charming that she has held on to this particular bat above my head since childhood! Spooky bat in the kitchen!

It's starting to get to be that time in the Fall when it's dark when you leave for work, and come home!

Totally for Lisa! Tiny Dracula! I forget where we picked this little guy up, but Lisa and I have this great game of hiding him for each other in various places to be discovered. We do this with some other things; like our chicken hats (yes, we have chicken hats), and our blow up eyeball.

The Three Hundred and Twenty Fourth...

Number Three Hundred and Twenty Four:

Despite my tired look (Hey! Give me a break, it's 5 in the freakin morning!) I was excited about today. Not only do I do my Friday Breakfast Blend on WRIR 97.3, but our interview on one of my favorite local radio shows Wordy Birds aired today! It sounded great too! You can listen to it here. All in preparation of the Book Launch Party at the Poe Museum this Sunday from 2-4PM! Should be wonderful time!

The Three Hundred and Thirteenth...

Number Three Hundred and Thirteen:

I guess you have noticed by now that I have a large head. Geez! Anyway, breakfast was coffee and cereal, not those nice tomatoes in the photo that we are still getting from our garden. Though they are quite tasty on a bagel with cream cheese!

It is starting to stay darker in the morning longer, and get darker earlier in the evening. Fall will be upon us soon!

The Two Hundred and Ninety Sixth...

Number Two Hundred and Ninety Six:

Day 6 without power. Yup, it pretty much sucks.

Note: It might mean me being late posting staches over the weekend! I will be doing them though!

The Two Hundred and Ninety Fifth...

Number Two Hundred and Ninety Five:

Home, Breakfast, Cereal

Day 5 without power. Lisa checked the Dominion website yesterday, said they were on our street, but to me that doesn't really mean anything. It's starting to feel like the long haul of outage. I know there is really no room to complain, thinking of 3rd worlds and places that don't have it as lucky as us. While I sat at the nook eating breakfast, I wondered what people 150 years ago, before electricity was readily available, thought about while eating their breakfast. I was thinking about Harry Potter movies. What did the world think about that was entertaining at the nook before there was a culture built around being entertained? Books? Conversation? Letters they read? Just something I was thinking about.

The Two Hundred and Ninety Fourth...

Number Two Hundred and Ninety Four:

Home, Breakfast, Cereal

Going on day 4 with no power. Yes, I want to restore sanity! (Note background poster.) Last night we went to the store since our awesome neighbors are still letting us mooch a line of electricity to keep the fridge going. We bought some milk for cereal so I won't have to endure that nasty fast foodness anymore! Somewhat back to normal, I suppose! It was a little chilly this morning, so the shower was extra special....

Two Hundred and Ninety Third...

Number Two Hundred Ninety Three:

Office, Breakfast, Biscuit

I think I have reached that age of awareness in my life where eating a sausage biscuit with egg from McDonalds is not tasty and breakfast worthy, but rather gross. Since we still have no electricity at home, and we're trying to make do with the one cord we have coming in from our nice neighbors who do have it, meals have been dodgy. Can I save the receipt for this greasy nastiness and bill Dominion Power?

By the way, Lisa Crisman, a librarian pal, sent me this:
Too funny!

The Two Hundred and Ninety Second...

Number Two Hundred and Ninety Two:
Office, Breakfast, Granola Bar

Still no power at the house, so uploading a Napkin Moustache gets tricky. Might have to do them at work till we get back online. In the meantime, driving to work with all the traffic lights out is a bitch. Also, pay no attention to the date on the calender, I just haven't torn it to the correct day!

The Two Hundred and Ninety First...

Number Two Hundred and Ninety One:
Home, Breakfast, Eggs

The day after Hurricane Irene came through; sunny, calm, getting warmer. Lisa & I picked up sticks, limbs and lawn stuff from the garage. We still have no power, probably won't get it a while (I hope I am wrong), being that we are part of a small row of houses that have no electricity, many around us have it, the retirement home has it, that usually means we are probably screwed. Our awesome neighbors who do have power have given us an outlet to at least keep the small fridge cold, so that's something. I know there is way worse out there so....

Anyway, WRIR rocks. Last night, we had the radio on, searching the dial through the evening for ANY updated weather reports. The only one that was doing effectively was WRIR.

I swear, we tried all over -AM, FM - nothing but people either calling in about downed trees or political pundits trying to blame someone for nature. We roll in on our little LP-FM at the moment they were telling us where the storm was, what the conditions were and what numbers to call. And it was happeneing frequently enough to be awesome. As far as I am concerned, WRIR 97.3 is the GO TO station in a weather emergency, thanks WRIR!

The Two Hundred and Ninetieth...

Number Two Hundred and Ninety:

Home, Breakfast, Weather

A quick 'stache in case our power goes out, the beginning moments of Hurricane Irene, sure to screw up the city for a while in some form or the other. It still didn't keep the Lakeside Farmers' Market from trying to be open. I was hoping to get bacon but wound up with potatoes and some lemon bread. Then snacks from the CVS across the parking lot. Maybe I will upgrade 290 if the power is still on an I do something clever, maybe not!

the Two Hundred and Seventy Third...

Number Two Hundred and Seventy Three:

Home, Breakfast, Eggs

In June, we attended a showing of Kenneth Close's display at Quirk Gallery. We had the opportunity to buy the pieces as well; some great argyle color with various spaceship cutouts from 60s magazines. As soon as I saw this one in the gallery, I was all smitten on how it would look in the record room with some of the mid-century space album art we have on the wall. Alas, when we tried to put it there after picking it up last week, it didn't quite fit, due to the lovely aqua color. We did, however, find an even better place for it, in the kitchen nook near the vintage aqua clock! Lisa would like to aqua the whole kitchen, I am cool with that if we can get more cool stuff like this!

The Two Hundred and Sixty Sixth...

Number Two Hundred and Sixty Six:

Home, Breakfast, Eggs

The final Paint By Numbers napstache series! Ha! You thought I forgot! I think this is the final one, unless we get something new from a thrift store. This is a great find Lisa managed to score years ago, before collecting this was cool. The Last Supper, took the guy about 6 months to do in the late sixties. After having it framed he even put the information on the back:

I am doing my best "Thomas" in this one. Anyway, this is proudly displayed in our home, not so much for the religious connotation, maybe a lean to the master Da Vinci work, but definitely because it looks swell in our Fungalow!

I know! My posts are so boring these past few days! Hey, cut me some slack, Beth Brown and I have practically finished the Richmond Macabre book and it should be out soon!

TOMATOES!!!!!!!

One of the great things about growing your own cherry style tomatoes is that they just lay around everywhere all the time when in season. Kind of like that candy bowl your grandma might have had around the house, except healthier! Just so great to walk by and pop one in your mouth at random!

The Two Hundred and Fortieth...

Number Two Hundred and Forty:

Home, Breakfast, Bagel

More tomato wackiness at 5AM before my radio show. You know how a nice bagel from Ellwood Thompson's goes with some cream cheese and a slice of tomato? Well, I go one step further and use cherry tomatoes! Lisa thinks it is a lot of trouble to cut them all up, I think it's fun bite sized! Aw yeah!

Oh, and band video!
